Gas & Steam Turbine Insulation Systems
M&I designs and manufactures specialized insulation systems for gas and steam turbines, including custom-engineered removable insulation blankets and protective insulation assemblies. These solutions accommodate complex turbine geometries, high operating temperatures, and equipment maintenance requirements.
M&I uses 3D modelling to develop insulation configurations and detailed key-map drawings to support accurate installation, removal, and reassembly during maintenance and inspections.
Gas Turbine Insulation
M&I provides engineered removable insulation systems for gas turbine casings, combustion chambers, associated piping, and other high-temperature components.
Manufactured using specialized insulation materials and protective fabrics, including silica, glass fibre, silicone-coated and aluminized fabrics, and stainless steel mesh, these systems are designed to withstand demanding thermal and operating conditions.
M&I’s documented project experience includes insulation systems for V94.2 and V94.3A gas turbines, incorporating 3D engineering, customized insulation geometry, and equipment-specific installation arrangements.
Steam Turbine Insulation
M&I supplies custom thermal insulation assemblies and removable insulation systems for steam turbines, turbine casings, associated valves, and high-temperature piping.
Solutions include flexible insulation blankets and removable assemblies with metallic cladding, engineered according to equipment configuration, thermal requirements, and maintenance access.
These systems provide thermal protection while allowing insulation sections to be removed and reinstalled during equipment maintenance and inspections.
Removable Insulation Blankets & Jackets
M&I develops flexible, removable insulation blankets for industrial equipment requiring regular inspection, servicing, or maintenance access.
Applications include turbine components, valves, flanges, process piping, instruments, flange covers, heat expansion joints, and other complex equipment geometries.
Each system can be tailored to the equipment’s dimensions, surface temperature, operating environment, and installation requirements using suitable high-temperature fabrics, insulation materials, and fastening arrangements.
Industrial Thermal Insulation Systems
M&I provides engineered thermal insulation solutions for industrial piping, pressure vessels, storage tanks, boilers, heat exchangers, and process equipment operating under high- or low-temperature conditions.
Systems are developed according to operating temperature, equipment geometry, environmental exposure, and project specifications, with insulation materials and protective cladding selected to suit the application.
Hot Insulation Systems
Hot insulation systems are designed for industrial equipment and piping operating at elevated temperatures, helping reduce heat losses, control external surface temperatures, and support efficient plant operation.
M&I supplies insulation assemblies for boilers, steam piping, process vessels, heat exchangers, and other high-temperature industrial equipment.
Solutions can incorporate mineral wool, calcium silicate, and other suitable insulating materials, with prefabricated sections and external metal cladding where required.
Cold Insulation Systems

Cryogenic Insulation Systems

High-Density Polyurethane Pipe Supports
M&I supplies prefabricated high-density polyurethane insulation components for cryogenic and low-temperature pipe support applications.
Available in custom shapes and dimensions, these components are designed to provide thermal insulation and mechanical support at piping support locations.
M&I’s manufacturing capabilities include shaped polyurethane components with densities in the range of 160–320 kg/m³, depending on application requirements.
Cryogenic Insulation Materials & Components
M&I provides engineered cryogenic insulation components using materials such as polyurethane foam, cellular glass, phenolic foam, and other insulation products selected for low-temperature applications.

Prefabricated Insulation Materials & Engineered Components
M&I combines engineering, thermal calculations, 3D modelling, and CNC prefabrication to produce custom insulation components for industrial piping, equipment, and complex geometries.
Its capabilities include material selection, insulation thickness calculations, preparation of cutting specifications, and fabrication of components based on customer drawings and project requirements.
CNC-Prefabricated Insulation Components
M&I manufactures rigid insulation components in custom shapes and dimensions, including pipe sections, elbows, tees, reducers, valve and flange insulation, equipment covers, and specialized fittings.
Available materials include polyurethane foam, high-density polyurethane, cellular glass, calcium silicate, phenolic foam, expanded polystyrene, extruded polystyrene, and mineral or glass wool.
Components can be manufactured with specialized joints and geometries to accommodate piping configurations, equipment dimensions, and installation requirements.
Metal Cladding & Protective Jacketing
M&I provides prefabricated metal cladding and protective jacketing for insulated piping, valves, fittings, tanks, and industrial equipment.
Cladding components are manufactured to match equipment geometries and insulation configurations, providing an external protective covering for industrial insulation systems.
Solutions include custom-formed metal sections and associated components designed for project-specific installation requirements.
Thermal Energy Surveys & Insulation Performance Assessment
M&I also provides technical assessment services to evaluate the condition and thermal performance of existing industrial insulation systems.
Using infrared thermography and non-contact inspection techniques, thermal surveys identify areas of abnormal heat loss and potential insulation deterioration in piping networks, process equipment, tanks, cogeneration units, and other industrial installations.
Survey results can support insulation maintenance planning, identification of improvement opportunities, and evaluation of potential energy savings.
